Outcome

As this project has progressed i am pleased that i have managed to retain the original purpose it had initially.

My final outcome will be in the form of a printed reference, referencing several printing methods on several stocks in a variety of colours. The printing methods i will be including will be visualised and represented in the best way possible through an intelligent and purposeful design template. I will be using embossing, de-bossing, varnishing, foil blocking, laser cutting/die cutting and possibly risograph printing. Each print process will have it's own design to highlight the possibilities within that process - line weight & point size will influence the design.

The final product will take the form of a bespoke collection/catalogue, categorised by paper stock. GF Smith have agreed to sponsor my project as they feel it is a worth while project. I will be printing the several processes on a variety of stocks in order to get a feel of the processes on differing textures, GSM's and colours. I will be using a range of weights from 100gsm to 700gsm. Colorplan and Mohawk papers seem to be preferential at this time although there is a possibility of using some coated stock (probably colorlux)

Depending on some more discussions i need to have with my printer, i am most certain that the individual prints will be A5 size (210 x 148) and will then be categorised into individual folios dependant on stock weight. Therefore there will be a total of 5-6 folios within a sleeve. The final "packaging" of the product so to speak is yet to be finalised at this stage.

Now that the printers and stock are in place i can focus all my attention on the designs for the individual processes. I hope to send them to print by May 17th, allowing 2 weeks for print and a week for preparation for hand in.
